The Muslim Welfare Society (MWS) Kohima today asserted all out support towards the move by different organisations to check the influx of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into the State. Interacting with this correspondent on the sidelines of MWS Kohima mass social work at its common grave yard at Kitzubozou here, president Fakar Uddin and general secretary Kamrul Islam said the society will fully support the move initiated by local organisations to check IBIs.
They said that even the MWS Kohima does not entertain any IBIs and no one is given the membership of the society unless genuine documentary evidences proving to be Indian citizens are produced. The genuine documents include voter card, land patta or house number properly signed and issued by Panchayat of the respective district the persons hails, they said.
They maintained that only those persons proving themselves to be sons and daughters of a person enrolled in the electoral roll or parents having land on or before 1971 within the country are considered for membership. The MWS leaders also maintained they conduct frequent scrutiny so that none of their members shelter any Bangladeashi immigrants.
Meanwhile, hundreds of members of MWS Kohima today joined in clearing the jungle bushes and cleaning the MWS common grave yard located in Kitsubozou.
Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, who was also present during the social work, suggested that the Society should take up some regular cleanliness and beautification in Kohima town. He also encouraged them not to harbor any illegal immigrants. Leaders from Kitsubozou Panchayat and MWS also discussed about the proper maintenance of the grave yard and also look into the welfare of the colony.
