Music Academy Kohima established in 2013 by two most noted musicians in Nagaland –Khyochano TCK Ngully and Ajeen Longchari Sucha celebrated its students at their Annual Recital 2016, on November 19, 2016 at Hotel Vivor, Kohima. The academy showcased striking performances ranging from a variety of styles and performers as young as 3 years old to the teachers of the Academy. Much of what goes on at the academy were evident at the show such as Toppers of the Piano Performers’ Exam displaying high technical skill and depth in musicality. MAK has truly proven to be a gem of a music institution that is constantly working towards a vision and goal – to develop, equip and support the next generation of musicians for the music industry and the church as mentioned by its Director, Khyochano TCK Ngully in her address. The Chief Guest for the evening, Temjen Toy, IAS, shared how delighted he is to know that there are more than many young talented musicians and is proud that they will make a bright and proud future. He further congratulated MAK on its success on completing another eventful year and without a doubt declared he would have been a musician himself had MAK been around during his childhood. The recital was a full-house, invite-only event; and ended with the finale performance of MAK’s own rendition of I Believe I Can Fly led by Ayim Longchar, the MAK choir and the MAK strings ensemble.
