
Saying that this will pave the way for the development of border regions, the minister also expressed the hope that the International Trade Centre at Avangkhu will also witness increased business activities due to increase in trade volume and better connectivity.
The Union minister who along with other officials visited the India-Myanmar border to take stock of the situation prevailing, was speaking at a public interaction programme held at the International Trade Centre, Avangkhu, a PIB release stated.

Reminding of Modi government's commitment towards developing the North East including the border areas of the region, Murugan reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that the last village is India’s first village.

The first Union minister to visit India’s first village on the Indo-Myanmar border in Phek district, the minister was given a rousing traditional welcome by the villagers, leaders and womenfolk, it stated.

During his three-day tour, Murugan also visited Chesezu village where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose reportedly camped during World War II.
During an interaction programme with the villagers, Murugan also shared on Modi government’s initiatives to pay tribute to Netaji and INA and highlight their sacrifices.
He also announced that a grant of INR 14.99 lac has been allocated to Phek district for exhibition of children’s films in the district.
Later in Kohima, the Union minister held a brief departmental business meeting with departments including IPR, and Soil water Conservation, AH&VS and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, at Dzukou House, Raj Bhavan.
