DIMAPUR — The five-day Mungri 2025 (College Week) themed “Unleashing brilliance” commenced at Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC), Kiphire, on October 29.

According to an update, the inaugural session was attended by Longdiba L Sangtam, additional deputy commissioner of Kiphire, as the special guest, who officially declared Mungri 2025 open.

Addressing the students, he urged them to value culture, seize opportunities, and forge their own paths through innovation and by developing essential soft skills. He lauded the efforts of the faculty of ZPC for imparting vision and insight to students as the lone college of the district.

He further encouraged students to think out of the box, which he said is expected from the young generation.

Dr. Pyobenthung, principal of ZPC, delivered the opening remarks on the essence of ‘Mungri’, a term derived from the Sangtam dialect meaning ‘confluence’ and ‘convergence’. He explained that it represents the merging of various activities and learning experiences to create a unified educational journey for every student.

The event also featured the presentation of the Governor’s Award for the academic session 2024–25, which was conferred upon Khiavito from the Economics department and Ridangla P Sangtam from the Political Science department. The Helen Jamir Award for the English department was awarded to Leishnaw Tikhir.

The second day of Mungri 2025 was observed as literary day and had the presence of Tsurenshe L, reigning Miss Kiphire 2025, who attended the final session and delivered an address on mental health titled “Safe minds, strong hearts”.

Speaking passionately about her cause, mental health, Tsurenshe emphasised the need to break the silence and stigma surrounding the issue, noting that mental health is often misunderstood and treated as taboo by society.

Addressing the students, she highlighted the silent struggles many young people face, such as anxiety and depression, and reminded everyone that “it’s ok not to be okay,” encouraging self-care and openness. She urged students to challenge the stigma around mental health, stating that talking about one’s problems is not a sign of weakness but a mark of real strength.

The day featured various literary activities such as essay writing, poem recitation, quiz, photography, declamation, and debate competitions. The session also featured the college anthem competition and ‘ZPC Got Talent’, where students showcased their talents.
