KOHIMA — Minister for Tourism and Higher Education Temjen Imna Along on Wednesday dismissed the reported Mumbai Police probe against him over an investment dispute as a “normal business dispute”.

Addressing a press conference at his office chamber in Kohima, Along said that the dispute will be resolved through court.

The minister was forced to address the press after the India Today reported that a Special Task Force (STF) of Mumbai Police‘s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had informed the Bombay High Court that it had initiated a preliminary enquiry against Along.

“The enquiry follows a court order from a bench comprising Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Prithviraj Chavan, issued during a hearing on a petition filed by Hazel Mercantile Limited, a Mumbai-based company,” the report stated.

In Kohima, Along sought to clarify that the case pertains to an old issue—not related to his tenure in the government. He explained that the matter dates back to 2024-15 when he made a business deal with Hazel Mercantile Limited (HML), a Mumbai-based company.

According to him, certain disputes arose, prompting his business partner to go to court. He said that such disputes are common in business dealings.

Along informed that he has briefed the government leadership about the matter, and they are fully aware of it.
