DIMAPUR, JANUARY 19

NSCN-IM leaders Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah are still camping in New Delhi.
So far no decision has been taken by the UPA government in connection with the naming of the new interlocutor for the Naga peace talks. A source close to Thuingaleng Muivah said they have no idea when the peace talks will resume. However, the source said that series of meetings among the NSCN-IM leaders involving Swu and Muivah are going on almost everyday in New Delhi. When NNN queried whether the peace talks will resume soon, the source said, “We have no idea.”
Meanwhile, a senior journalist based in New Delhi informed NNN that before the Lok Sabha polls there may not be any peace talk between the NSCN-IM and the Central government. He said the government is too busy with the forthcoming polls and that focus on any other issue has become very little.
It is worthwhile to recall here that the NSCN-IM leaders are in New Delhi since November 19 last year to resume the talks but after the series of informal meetings between the representatives of the government of India and the NSCN-IM, RS Pandey’s joining to the fold of BJP has been the reason for the creation of the not-so-appealing ambience.
It can also be noted here that the media reports have been speculating that New Delhi may name as interlocutor from among the four persons–Ajit Lal, the present chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee, Lt. Gen. (retd) RN Kapur, former Assam Police chief G.M. Srivastava, and a former special director of the Intelligence Bureau, and R.N. Ravi, who retired as Intelligence Bureau special director.
