Mughaho Awomi retaines champions title

Mughaho Awomi today retained the title of 14th Nagaland State ‘A’ Chess championship organised by Nagaland Chess Association (NCA) here at Red Cross Society Conference Hall.
Mughaho Awomi scored 8 points to be the undisputed the champion while Kevilekho Zumvu with 6.5 points was placed second. Melesai Dawhuo also with 6.5 points and Kughaho Kiho with 6 points were declared third and fourth place winners.Declaring the final results, Arbiter of the tournament and vice president NCA, P. Khezhie announced that the four winners will represent the state in the upcoming National ‘B’ Chess Championship scheduled to be held at Himachal Pradesh in May.
Gracing the valedictory function as the guest of honoyr, former NCA president Helie Rupreo said that the game of chess help s overall development of a person.
Expressing that it is disciplined game, he said Chess facilitates the decision making caliber in a person as the game has rightly been termed the “gymnasium of the mind”. He also gave away prizes to the winners while also wishing them all the best for their future endeavour.
The winners received cash award with citations and trophies.
A total of 20 participants from different parts of the state had taken part in the tournament, which commenced on April 14.
