MTLT demands street lighting, uninterrupted power supply

Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) voiced out to the power department for installation of proper street lighting and uninterrupted power supply in the town.
In a press release addressed to executive engineer of Power department, Mokokchung division, the MTLT, said there are many localities in Mokokchung town in need of street lighting, not only for beautification of the town at night but also for the safety of the general public during the night hours especially the road leading from Police Point to Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital.
The MTLT pointed out that the frames for installing street lights were already in place; some just in need of bulbs, while others can be installed on electric posts standing along the stretch of the road.
The hospital road, which is one of the most important roads in the town which remains busy even during night hours as the attendants of patients admitted to hospital traverse on a daily basis, day and night, it stated.
The youths of Mokokchung town has appealed the department to install street lights in the different localities, especially the hospital road, on a priority basis.
Also, noticing the load shedding at regular intervals in the town, the MTLT aid it does not recognize whatever excuses or reasons the department might give for the regular power load shedding because the residents of Mokokchung town were paying their light bills diligently on time every month.
“It is a matter of fact that Mokokchung town citizens pay their monthly electricity bills on time and as such, we expect uninterrupted power supply 24/7. Therefore, the demand for uninterrupted power supply in Mokokchung town is justified and unquestionable”, the organization stated.
