Mokokchung, May 23 (EMN): Mokokchung Town Longsa Senso Telungjem (MTLST), in collaboration with Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), conducted a “voluntary blood donation camp” where 23 volunteers from Longsa donated blood on May 22.
MTLST president K Imtitubai stated that people of Longsa, who are residing in the town, have initiated the camp as a precautionary measure, as nobody knows how long the pandemic would continue. He added that it would be impossible for the people to move freely if the virus hits the district.
“If needed, we are ready to provide our services to donate more blood,” the MTLST president said.
“During such crucial time, a union coming forward to donate blood is very unprecedented, in many emergency cases patients desperately need blood but cannot even find/ trace a donor during such emergency hours. The noble gestured displayed by MTLST is much appreciated and hope that such activities will continue in the future,” said IMDH medical superintendent, Dr. Medem.
Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir also said that a union initiating voluntary blood donation camp is exemplary and expressed hope that such kind of initiative would bring unity and co-operation among the people.
During the camp, MTLST also donated a washing machine to Mokokchung District Covid-19 hospital to be used for laundry purposes. Later, the officials met the deputy commissioner at his office and handed over a sum of INR 50,000 toward Mokokchung District Covid-19 fund.
