Orlando of MT Youth Club and Hoatinmang of Head Hunters scored hat-tricks as both of their teams advanced to the next round of the ongoing 21st Classic Cup Tournament held at Kohima Local Ground.
Playing the first match of the day, MT Youth Club blanked School Education FC 5-0 to make it to the pre-quarters.
Leading from the front, MT Youth Club skipper Hoinato made the breakthrough in the first half, followed by a fine touch from their midfielder Orlando to take the score line to 2-0. Within no time, Orlando went on to score his second goal.
All out to humiliate their rivals, MT Youth Club scored their fourth goal through Hekato. Entering the last quarter of the match, Orlando went on to score his hat-trick goal, becoming the fourth player of the tournament to do so.
In the second match, Head Hunters downed Nokmei FC 4-0 to make it to the last 16. Head Hunters took the lead through their centre forward Khampei in the first half.Entering the final minutes of the first half, Hoatinmang scored the second goal for his team to take the score line to 2-0 till the interval.
In the second half, Nokmei FC’s effort to fight back was shattered as Hoatinmang found the net again. More jubilation time for Head Hunters followed as Hoatinmang scored his hat-trick, becoming the fifth player to do so in the ongoing tournament.
With their respective victory, MT Youth Club and Head Hunters will meet in the pre-quarterfinal on November 13.
