With special focus on the socio-economic and political empowerment of women in the state, Manipur State Women Commission(MSWC) is all set to conduct a study on women's welfare policies and programmes which are being implemented in the state.
The said research cum study programme will be sponsored and guided by National Women Commission, says chairperson of MSWC Dr I Ibetombi while addressing mediapersons at N-Block of Deputy Commissioner's office complex, Lamphel in Imphal west district today.
Dr Ibemtombi also informed that the findings of the research study is expected to throw light in providing suggestion and recommendation for initiating a state level policy to amend the existing women's welfare policies and programmes which is currently being implemented in the state. She added that the study will check out the degree of accessibility and availing level of various social entitlement schemes that are being implemented in the state and also would review the implemented customary law, pertaining to women issues.
Dr Ibetombi further went on to say that a six-member expert committee for socio, economic and political empowerment for the northeast region has been formed and the committee is headed by L Sailo who is the current chairperson of Mizoram state women commission.
Out of the total 37 selected surveyors 4 surveyors each will be assigned for each district, she added. For this a 5- day residential training programme for the surveyors will be held at Kombirei Hall at DC Imphal west complex to help and facilitate effective data collection and subsequent steps to carry out the research works.
When sought Dr Ibeytombi's view whether the currently implemented social entitlements programme are easily accessible or availed to the needy individuals, she opined that most of government implemented schemes and other social entitlement programmes are easily accessible and most of them are availed easily.
The 12th and the 6th edition of the Director General Assam Rifles Cup State Equestrian Championship IGAR (South) Junior Equestrian Championship was kicked off on February 1 in a glittering inaugural ceremony at the Polo Ground, Imphal.
