MP Rio calls on Governor

Dimapur, August 21 : Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio called on Governor PB Acharya on August 19 at Raj Bhavan, Kohima and apprised him about the developmental projects taken up in Selouphe Village in Dimapur which was adopted by Rio under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAJY) in November 2014.

A statement issued by PRO to Governor said, Rio has adopted Longwa village in Mon district as his second village under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAJY) as suggested by Governor earlier. According to Rio, the traditional Angh’s House has been renovated under SAJY, half of which in India and half in neighbouring country and hundreds of Naga brothers are on the other side in Myanmar. Rio has invited the Governor to inaugurate it during the month of October.
Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) was initiated to bring the Member of Parliament of all the political parties under the same umbrella while taking the responsibility of developing physical and institutional infrastructure in villages and turn them into model villages under the scheme.

Each Member of Parliament needs to choose one village each from the constituency that they represent, except their own village or their in-laws village and fix parameters and make it a model village.

Thereafter, they can take on two or three more villages and do the same by the time the next general elections come along in 2019, and set themselves ten-year-long village or rural improvement projects villages will be offered smart schools, universal access to basic health facilities and Pucca housing to homeless villagers.

The Governor appealed to all elected MLAs to adopt a village or two with the same spirit in their own constituency. “India is a country of villages”- statement by our President of India, so village development is the development of the whole Country”.

Governor appealed to all the members to develop the villages and empower the villagers.
