DIMAPUR — Playing to a packed house at Tetso College’s Lorin Hall, Mountain Music Academy (MMA) delivered a spectacular performance of Opai Asey, a vibrant musical celebrating the timeless hits of ABBA.
Scripted by Anungla Zoe Longkumer, the production followed the journey of a young woman determined to build a music career despite the societal pressure to pursue a stable path through competitive exams.
An update issued on Wednesday informed that the narrative was seamlessly interwoven with ABBA classics - including "Mamma Mia," "Waterloo," and "The Winner Takes It All"—which mirrored the emotional arcs of the story.
The play's core moral was delivered powerfully at the finale: "Perhaps the biggest gift parents can give their children is not choosing their dreams for them, but giving them the courage to chase their own".
The ambitious production featured an impressive ensemble of young performers, beginning at just three years of age, alongside celebrated guest artists Colored Keys and Shau Evans.
In her opening address, MMA Director Bethel Tsuzu commended the students, faculty, and parents for their remarkable resilience through a demanding rehearsal schedule.
"We chose to do the concert. We chose what was tough and challenging. We discovered that our children have much more than just musical skills. They are resilient and brave," she shared, expressing deep gratitude for the parents' dedicated support.
