Mount Tiyi College YRC conducts awareness camp on blood grouping
DIMAPUR — The Youth Red Cross (YRC) unit of Mount Tiyi College, Wokha in collaboration with Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), conducted an awareness camp on blood grouping and first aid training at the conference hall, DMMDH, Wokha on October 28.
Dr. Nzanthung Lotha, pathologist at DMMDH Wokha, highlighted about the function of blood in the body, different types of blood groups, who are eligible for the donating blood, many times one can donate and benefits of blood donation, an update from medical superintendent, DMMDH stated.
Dr. Visazotuo, general surgeon, shared on basics of first aid, cut injury, burn, hand hygiene and six steps of hand washing, choking, fracture and CPR.
Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, medical superintendent, highlighted on hypertension, its causes, symptoms and complications caused by hypertension.
Pointing out that hypertension is a silent killer as most of the hypertensive patients do not have any symptom but die due to complication, Dr. Kithan advised patients to do regular check-up of blood pressure, maintain ideal body weight and get prompt treatment.
Blood grouping was done for the MTC Youth Red Cross unit at the pathology laboratory, DMMDH, Wokha.
The programme was chaired by Oliv L Ayemi, officer in charge of Youth Red Cross, MTC unit, and vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. K Zumomo Ovung, vice principal of Mount Tiyi College.
The district hospital expressed gratitude to the MTC Youth Red Cross unit for conducting the programme.
