Mount Olive College organises cultural extravaganza

Students of Mt. Olive College perform during their cultural extravaganza in the college’s premises.

Dimapur, Dec. 4 (EMN): A four-day cultural extravaganza of the Mount Olive College began on December 3 at the college’s auditorium.

Delivering his inaugural message, Dr. Narendra Tiwary, the college principal, spoke on the essence of culture. He stated that culture is the fragrance of civilisation that gives strength and uphold unity.

“Though the world is advancing ahead, our culture is ever-living and ever-existing, therefore celebrating a cultural day is a necessity,” Tiwary said. He stated that by celebrating such programme, people come to respect themselves and preserve their identity to live together as cultured people.

“When we go against our cultural habits, we invite problems. But when we preserve our culture we will be able to address them,” Tiwari added.

Tiwary further called upon the students to preserve and respect one’s culture.

Other highlights of the day included the presentation of cultural dances, songs, folk tale and the traditional attire display by the various Naga tribes.

Literary competition, indoor games and indigenous games would be conducted during the next three days of the college week.
