Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): Motorcycle rallies are all the rage now with various ride-around being organised by various organisations, even the security forces, to publicise notable commemorative events. The IPR, and the Assam Rifles, both issued separate updates concerning two recent, separate bike rallies.
In Kohima, the Kohima district administration organised a motorcycle rally on April 2 in association with the Nagaland Motorcycle Club. The Kohima rally was themed on ‘clean election.’

The electoral officer of Kohima, Anoop Khinchi flagged off the rally at his office complex. In his address, he said that the motorcycle rally was organised as part of the district Sveep campaign to publicise the need for clean election. He called upon the riders to propagate the message to the public and to urge them to ‘vote right, in order to have their future bright,’ the IPR explained.

Khinchi, also Kohima’s deputy commissioner, hoped that the message of clean election will reach the public through the riders’ participation.

The rally “covered the whole area of the town” with short stops at various
locations.

Battle of Kohima
Similarly, the security forces undertook another motorbike rally, which was flagged off on March 30 from Tsiesema Basa in Kohima, to commemorate the platinum jubilee of the Battle of Kohima.

A press release from the military establishment on Tuesday stated that the rally reached Kiphire town on March 31 after a halt at Jessami in Manipur.

The bikers traversed a distance of 130 km in nine hours through villages such Melluri, Akhegwo and Longmatre, the updates stated.

A flag-in programme was organised at the DC ground in Kiphire where local youths performed ‘some amazing numbers,’ the organisers stated.

The bikers will complete the last leg of the bike rally on April 4, at Jotsoma in Kohima, the updates added.
