Wokha, Jan. 16 (EMN):
The Motor Vehicle department of Wokha observed on Thursday the 31st National Road Safety Week which is from January 11 to the 17th, with the theme ‘bring change through youth power.’

To spread the message of road safety and to educate citizens, personnel from the department led by Chumthungo Humtsoe, a road safety inspector at Wokha, distributed banners and pamphlets at the Wokha police point to motorists and commuters.

A short programme themed on road safety and to generate awareness about it was conducted too.

Humtsoe urged the participants to follow traffic rules and refrain from using mobile phones when driving. They were also advised to avoid drinking alcohol stating that many accidents occur due to carelessness and negligence.

Also, the official highlighted the new Motor Vehicle Acts related to fine and penalties.
