Dimapur, Jan. 12 (EMN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union has claimed that majority of ATM booths in Nagaland’s commercial hub are either not functional or without cash, causing inconvenience to students as well as general public.
This was found out upon inspection of ATM booths in and around Dimapur after receiving complaints from several sections of the society, the union said in an update issued by its media cell.
Expressing dismay at the poor service provided by the banks, the union said students are at the receiving end since school admissions have started, describing it as “unnecessary physical and mental harassment”.
“It is to be noted that, ATM service charges are being levied upon its customers, and therefore it is the bounded duty of the Banks to provide quality service to its customers,” read the press release.
Claiming that queues with more than 20-30 persons were seen at a time outside the functional ATMs, the union said such scenes “without maintaining social distancing protocol is a total breach of SOP laid down by the government”. It also stated most ATMs in Dimapur do not meet the required standard operating procedures.
The union has therefore requested the banks to maintain and provide quality ATM services to the citizens.
