DIMAPUR — Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Labour, and Employment, Rameswar Teli, handed over appointment letters to 111 recruits for various ministries and central departments during the 9th Rozgar Mela (employment fair) held at IMC hall, Dimapur, on Tuesday.

Among the 111, nine were recruited in the healthcare sector, three in the Food Corporation of India, 94 in the postal department, and five in the education department. Another 86 appointment letters were distributed through email, according to an update.

The Rozgar Melas were held subsequently in 46 different venues across the country, with three Rozgar Melas held in the northeast—Salem, Guwahati, and Dimapur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the event via video conferencing, which saw the distribution of more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits in various government departments.

Speaking at the event, Teli said that the selected candidates will contribute to building a self-reliant nation by working with the government, which will also improve the quality of their lives and the economy of the country.

According to the minister, the country has been steadily moving forward on the path of economic development and progress under Modi’s leadership, with a consistent increase in job creation over the last few years.

He claimed that due to the efforts of the government, the unemployment rate has continuously declined; moreover, the government has also given special attention to promoting self-employment and has made creating new employment opportunities a priority.

The minister added that to make the country self-reliant and to create new employment opportunities for women and men, the government has launched many schemes, and various ministries are working on war footing to fulfil them.

He mentioned that women are an important part of the labour force and noted that there is a large participation of women in both organised and unorganised sectors and that the government is making continuous efforts to provide better employment opportunities to women.

He also stated that, in addition to providing employment, the government is concerned with workers’ social security, and that in this regard, Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) 2.0 has been launched to completely modernise and expand ESIC’s services across the country.

The minister added that, under the leadership of the prime minister, the government is preparing a national database to provide social security and other benefits to about 38 crore workers working in the unorganised sector via the e-Shram portal.
