DIMAPUR — Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, arrived in Nagaland on Saturday, where he will be launching the PM Vishwakarma scheme in the state capital Kohima on September 17 at Hotel De Oriental Grande.

En route to Kohima, the minister is also scheduled to visit the ICAR- National Research Institute on Mithun, Medziphema, as well as Peren district.

Upon his arrival at Dimapur airport, Balyan told media persons that the PM Vishwakarma scheme will provide holistic support to the traditional artisans and craftsmen.

It may be mentioned that PM Vishwakarma will be fully funded by the Union government with an outlay of INR 13,000 crore. Under the scheme, the Vishwakarmas will be registered free of charge through Common Services Centres using biometric based PM Vishwakarma portal.

They will be provided recognition through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, skill upgradation involving basic and advanced training, toolkit incentive of INR 15,000, collateral-free credit support up to INR 1 lakh (first tranche) and INR 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, incentive for digital transactions and marketing support.
