MOS agrees to organise mega career fair in Nagaland

Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, has agreed to organise one of a kind mega skill, job and career fair in Nagaland.

Chandrasekhar stated this during his visit to YouthNet Centre in Dimapur on May 5 as part of his three-day visit to Nagaland, an update from YouthNet media cell stated. It stated that Chandrasekhar has acknowledged and appreciated YouthNet for its tremendous contribution in skilling the youth and playing a key role in addressing the skill gap and employment issue in Nagaland.

During interaction, the minister also extended his support and agreed to organise a one of a kind mega skill, job and career fair in Nagaland. He further encouraged YouthNet in identifying and mentoring one ‘role model’ entrepreneur from all the districts across Nagaland in the handloom, handicrafts and food processing sector.

While highlighting the various programmes and initiatives being implemented by YouthNet in the areas of skill development, livelihood and employment, and Entrepreneurship, founder of YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu Kense, appealed to the minister for introducing integrated and common platforms for training providers (TP) across Nagaland to enable the youth have easier access to various skill and career options and opportunities.

Hekani further stressed that YouthNet envisioned to continue skilling the youth to empower and give them the confidence to not only earn their livelihood but be job providers thereby bring about solutions to the high un-employment problem the youth of the state are facing.

It mentioned that the union minister has been closely associated with YouthNet for the past 10 years and instrumental in supporting and promoting entrepreneurship in Nagaland through its program ‘Impact 5000 by 18’.

The Union MoS was accompanied by Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor of IT, Science and Technology, NRE; Imnatiba, advisor of Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; and other officials from the state departments.
