Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The second edition of Morning Champions Cup (MCC) organised by the Morning Football Association (MFA) will kick start from September 4 and will continue till October 21, 2017 stated a press note. The one and half month long tournament will be played in a group and knockout round basis. MCC is held every year after Morning Premier League (MPL) where the relegated teams of MPL cannot participate in MCC. Keeping the motto of MFA – “Health and Friendship” through football, MCC is another such tournament where the players are between the age of 28 – 50. The main goal and focus of MFA is to create a platform through MPL and MCC to those over aged and retired football players who still have the urge to kick the ball and also to maintain one’s health as well as make new friends.
This year’s edition of MCC will see 12 teams in two groups vying for the cup. This tournament has no cash prize and is solely sponsored by the players. The venue for MCC will be at Seikhazou ground and I.G stadium. The 12 teams are Mrh. FC (winner of MCC, 2016), MFC, AFFC, PowerComm FC, Mrh. Sunrisers, Morung United FC, All Blacks, FC Pezielietsie, Neristian FC, Phoenix Rising, Gazelle FC and FC Football Fanatics.
