More than 9 lakh Covid doses administered in Manipur

Imphal, July 15 (EMN): Manipur has administered 9,55,923 doses of Covid vaccines including 8,52,179 first and 1,03,744 second doses to the residents till date.

According to official report, till date a total of 3,73,850 first doses (second dose 1,051) of Covid vaccine were given to people between 18-44 years and 2,22,437 first doses (second dose 15,414) to people between 45-59 years besides 1,14,875 first doses (second dose 7,676) to people above 60 years.

Meanwhile, Manipur on Thursday reported 14 Covid fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s death toll to 1340, official sources said. Five deaths were reported in Imphal West, three each in Bishnupur and Churachandpur, two in Kangpokpi and one in Kakching.

Moreover, the state reported 1039 fresh Covid cases out of 7,056 samples tested in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total infection tally to 81,560, sources added. The total number of active cases increased to 8,558.

The new positive cases were detected from 15 districts in the state and maximum numbers of cases were reported from Imphal West (289), Imphal East (270) and Churachandpur (98)districts.

On the other hand, with 677 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases in Manipur reached 71,662, it added. Thus, the recovery rate stands at 87.86 percent.

As of Thursday, 9,82,099 persons were tested for Covid-19 while 7,58,835 persons were screened at the entry points of the state at the various testing centres in the state, it said.

In another development, Manipur police on today detained 120 persons across the state for violating health protocols and released them after giving warning. An amount of INR 45,350 was also collected as fine.
