More than 6K people reach home in first travel window

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): More than 6000 persons stranded within Nagaland have been ferried to their respective home districts during the three-day travel window opened by the state government.

According to an official update, around 2000 people were transported to their respective home districts on Saturday. On the first day, 2434 persons were ferried; followed by another 1758 on the second day.

Stranded persons outside Nagaland

Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha informed that Nagaland citizens stranded in different parts of the country desiring to come back to the state, either on their own arrangement by road through e-pass or by arrangements to be made by the state government, have started applying through the returnees’ declaration form in the website iamstranded.nagaland.gov.in.

“As of 4 pm today (May 9), a total of 93 have applied for e-passes and 12839 have requested government arrangement for transportation,” he informed.

Travel period extended

Nagaland government has decided to extend the inter-district travel period for stranded persons within the state by three more days, from May 11 to the 13th.

This was announced through an official notification issued on Saturday.

Under this arrangement, those stranded persons who have registered themselves at the facilitation centres will be given preference.

It added that “among the persons who (have) registered so far, there are only persons stranded in Kohima and Dimapur”.

Those who wish to travel in conveyance of their own arrangement and cost are allowed to do so, it informed, while directing the deputy commissioners to issue necessary permit.
