More than 5.61 lakh quintals of rice distributed in Nagaland during Covid-19 pandemic

Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio has informed that a total of 56,1875 quintals of rice were allocated under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH) by the Government of India (GoI) from April to November, 2020, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A total of 477569 quintals of rice were allocated under PHH and 84306 quintals of rice under AAYm it was informed.

The chief minister was replying to the unstarred question raised by MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo at the 7th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Thursday.

Rio, who is also the minister in-charge for Civil and Food Supplies, went on to inform that 8548.02 quintals of dal were allocated to the ration card holders from April to June, and 14,246.7 quintals of chana from July to November last year.

He furnished the monthly district-wise free distribution of the essential commodities under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) to all the 11 districts – Dimapur, Kohima, Kiphire, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Peren, Tuensang, Wokha and Zunheboto from April to November, 2020.

The chief minister also provided detailed information showing village-wise allocation and distribution of the food grains in Phek under the PMGKAY during the pandemic, as sought by Sazo, who is also from the district.
