More than 4000 migrants screened in Kohima

Kohima, June 5 (EMN): More than 3000 inter-state travellers and over 1000 inter-district travellers have been screened till June 5 at the Kohima local ground.
Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Kohima, Kevingoto Kulnu, informed that an average of 50-60 persons, mostly from Assam and Bihar, are screened every day.
He also shared that a handful of inter-district travellers still come for screening and get certificates as some villages or colonies ask them to produce it.
He said that the inter-state travellers have their own train and flight tickets; they are screened and given permit to travel till Dimapur railway station. He stated that 99% of travellers have their own transportation.
The administration arranges vehicles for the remaining travellers, he said.
Kulnu informed that on June 8, around 45 persons from Kohima district will be sent to Uttar Pradesh, and the transportation will be arranged by the administration.
He said that it is an arrangement made between the respective governments as some Nagas will be returning by bus from UP.
“We are doing our best to help in whatever we can,” he added.
Distribution of relief packages to stranded labourers, migrant workers and daily wage earners by the Kohima district administration and district disaster management authority, Kohima, as per directive from the Centre and state government, is still going on at the local ground.
An official informed that over 3000 people from Kohima district have availed the relief packages so far. He said that almost all the colonies from Kohima town have been covered, except for two.
