Dimapur, April 14 (EMN):
At least 43 persons—including doctors, nurses and staff from Zion Hospital and Research Centre; and two doctors from District Hospital Dimapur—have been quarantined at Hotel Acacia, Cedar Hotel and Four Seasons Hotel, according to a highly reliable source.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror on Tuesday, a doctor from Zion Hospital (who requested anonymity) said that their throat samples (collected on April 13) were sent for testing on Tuesday.

He also informed that there were only a few in-patients at Zion Hospital at the moment and they were being taken care of by those doctors not exposed to the patient who had tested positive for Covid-19. The doctor further added that pregnancy cases were being referred to other hospitals.

At the moment, the quarantined staff from Zion Hospital have not shown any symptoms of Covid-19 and all them are being kept in separate rooms, he informed.

According to the doctor, throat samples were collected at around 8 pm on April 13, and they reached their respective hotels at around 9 pm. He also added that the medical staff of Zion Hospital reached their quarantine facilities late and received their dinner only at around 1 am since the hotel kitchen was closed, and had to be arranged from outside.

The doctor informed that only after the report of their samples is received, authorities will decide whether they would continue to stay in the hotel or would be home quarantined. He also opined that it would be very risky for the family members if they were sent for home quarantine without the second test.

While checking the positive Covid-19 patient, he said that they took basic precautions but did not use PPE, since the patient did not show any symptoms of Covid-19 when he was first admitted to Zion Hospital, and had not disclosed his travel history.

When queried about the food provided at the quarantine facilities, he said that they were provided dal and fried potatoes for both lunch and dinner; and added that they had received pickle and other food items from well-wishers, and they have even requested the authority concerned to look into the matter.
