More than 3.46 lakh new Covid-19 cases, 2624 deaths reported in India

Dimapur, April 24 (EMN):
A record single-day spike of 3,46,786 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours pushed India’s active caseload to 25,52,940 and tally to 1,66,10,481, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Ten states account for 74.15% of the new cases, with Maharashtra leading the highest daily fresh cases at 66,836, followed by Uttar Pradesh – 36,605 and Kerala – 28,447.

The Union Health ministry also updated that 2,624 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the country to 1,89,544 (1.14% mortality rate), while the number of recoveries has increased to 1,38,67,997 (83.49% recovery rate) with 2,19,838 of them registered in the last 24 hours.

Eleven states and union territories — Ladakh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Lakshadweep, Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Arunachal Pradesh – didn’t report any Covid deaths in the last 24 hours.

In terms of vaccination, 13,83,79,832 vaccine doses have been administered through 19,80,105 sessions across the country, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Saturday, according to the Health ministry.

“These include 92,68,027 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and 59,51,076 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,18,51,655 FLWs (1stdose), 61,94,851 FLWs (2nddose), 4,91,45,265 1st dose beneficiaries and 71,65,338 2nd dose beneficiaries more than 60 years old and 4,66,71,540 (1st dose) and 21,32,080 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years,” read the update.
