Imphal, June 21 (EMN): More than 100 office bearers and workers of Naga People’s Front (NPF) Mao assembly constituency under Manipur’s NPF Senapati division resigned from the party over the indifferent attitude of the party’s central leadership on Tuesday.

NPF Mao assembly constituency’s President Kio Alexander and Secretary K Hekha Chouba have submitted a joint letter to the President of NPF Senapati division, Manipur in this regard on Tuesday.

In the letter, the NPF Mao assembly functionaries said they have urged the NPF president Dr Shiihozelie Liesietsu on March 22 this year to take up remedial measures to restore the faith and confidence of the people in the party.

“We had also mentioned with documentary evidence on the manipulative role of Mr TR Zeliang, the then leader of the NPF legislature party, Nagaland which was a blatant violation of the party’s principles,” read the joint letter.

“But instead, our candidate Mr L Dikho who was publicly declared by the President NPF Centre HQ as Sl No.1 in the party’s seniority list in the Manipur state unit and hence for a ministerial position, was first unceremoniously relegated to Sl No 2 and to rub in more salt on the wounds he was further pushed out from Sl No 2 without even the courtesy of an explanation”.

It may be mentioned L Dikho was elected for the third consecutive term from Mao assembly constituency from 2012 till date and became the senior most legislator of the party in Manipur.

Stating that they had patiently waited a sincere response from the NPF Central leadership, but no such gesture has been forthcoming, the letter said, “Therefore with great sense of sadness we, the office bearers and workers of Mao assembly constituency declared our resignation from the NPF after being convinced that the party leadership is beyond correction”.
