More than 1 lakh persons vaccinated in Manipur

A total of 1,01,069 persons including healthcare workers and frontline workers in Manipur got the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine so far. On the other hand, a total of 52,980 healthcare workers and frontline workers received a second dose of vaccines.

Till date, the total number of healthcare workers vaccinated with the first dose of Covishield vaccine is 32,109, while 20,152 of them got the second dose of vaccines, the state health department officials said. Similarly, 58,810 frontline workers received the first dose, while 32,258 got the second dose of Covishield in the state.

Meanwhile, Manipur on Thursday reported 18 new Covid-19 positive cases bringing the state’s total infection tally to 29,579 besides increasing the total number of active cases to 141, according to official sources.

Of the new 18 cases, 15 are from the general population- one each was detected in Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching, Kangpokpi districts while Churachandpur has 3 and Imphal West with 8 cases.

With 10 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recovered Covid-19 cases has reached 29,062, it said. The state’s recovery rate stands at 98.25 %.

It was also reported that there is no report of death in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of deaths is 376. The state reported its first positive Covid-19 case and death case on March 24 and July 27 last year. Last death case due to Covid-19 in the state was reported on February 7 this year.

It may be recalled that the state started to resume the Covid-19 test for incoming air passengers on their arrival at the airport from February 24 onwards. Till Thursday, around 3,292 air passengers were tested for Covid-19 at the airport, wherein 62 passengers were detected positive.
