More reports on International Nurses Day celebration

Along with the rest of the world, the nurses of Mon District Hospital celebrated the International Nurses Day on the theme “Nurses a force for change, A vital resource for health” on May 12 at Chapel Hall, District Hospital Mon.
Nursing sister and president of Mon Brnach TNAI, Hangkoi Konyak, said on the occasion of International Nurses Day, hospital chaplain along with nurses of the District Hospital Mon visited Sub-Jail Mon and had a interaction with the Jailor and the prisoners. During the visit to the Sub-Jail, they had a short prayer programme and later distributed food package to the prisoners. She also said that food package were also distributed to the indoor patients of the district hospital.
Short speech was delivered by Dr. Ray, MSF. Lucky draw for Nurse 2014 was initiated by Smt. Hangkoi, president of TNAI, local Branch District Hospital Mon unit, wherein Obangsenla, ANM, was declared Lucky Nurse 2014.Earlier, the programme was chaired by Vivonuo, senior nurse. Introduction on International Nurses Day was delivered by Senlemtula, senior nurse, while special prayer for nurses was offered by YP David Konyak, Hospital Chaplain. The Invocation prayer was pronounce by Punakala.
In a related programme, Longleng district has observed the International Nurses Day on May 12 in the office of the Medical Superintendent, where Dr. B Henshet Phom, vice principal Yingli College, Longleng, who was the guest speaker, spoke on the significance of the day by citing example from the life of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and pioneer of public health service for the poor. He said nurses have biggest responsibility in rendering service for the health of the people all over the world.
The Programmed was chaired by Ms. Mercy, ANM of Namching Sub-Centre, while Mrs. Nyemphen from Pongo Sub-Centre invoked God’s presence. Introductory speech was deliverd by Ms. S Ajong, local TNAI president and Nursing in charge of District Hospital Longleng.
Dr. O Kongyan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Longleng, in his short speech, has urged all doctors and nurses to remain in unity for the smooth functioning of District Hospital Longleng and for the well being of public and patients.
Nurses were urged to get inspiration from the life of Florence and to reaffirm their pledged to give their best possible service for the cause of health service in the land.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Laje, ANM of B Namsang.
