Dimapur, June 15 (EMN): The High Powered Committee (HPC) on Covid-19 is holding a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the Covid-19 situation and on lockdown in the state, according to sources.

It informed that there are possibilities of more relaxations to the lockdown in view of the declining trend in the number of daily Covid-19 cases over the past few days. However, the committee will take the final decision at the meeting.

It may be mentioned that the government of Nagaland imposed total lockdown from May 14 to the 21st to arrest the surging Covid cases in the state, before it was extended to May 31 and then to June 11.

The government further extended the lockdown to June 18, but with some relaxations like permitting business establishments to open between 6 am and 2 pm; stationeries, electronic stores, garages for automobile repairing and shops selling vehicle spare parts on alternate days; prayer meetings and fellowships for up to 20 persons; private business offices with a core group of officers and staff; new construction works and taxi services on odd-even system, provided Covid-appropriate behaviour is followed.

We discussed about the concerns and issues due to late arrival of monsoon and insufficient rain in Nagaland as well as deliberated on the way forward,’ he tweeted on Tuesday.
