Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft carrying more consignment weighing approximately three tons for installation of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) medical oxygen generation plants in the state arrived at Dimapur Airport on Thursday.
The aircraft, which came from Ahmedabad via Allahabad, was carrying leftover compressors and equipment that couldn’t be accommodated in the IAF IL-76MD that airlifted major consignment for three oxygen generation plants in the state, updated DPRO Dimapur.
The consignment was handed over to EAC Chümoukedima, Seyie Solo, co-ordinating officer, at Dimapur Airport on Thursday at 2 pm, it informed, adding that it would be further transported to the designated sites in Dimapur and Mokokchung by road.
“The AN-32 medium lift transport aircraft of IAF of Russian origin was tasked to carry out the mission which belongs to 49 Squadron based at Jorhat,” the update informed.
It went on to inform that the IAF has completed 13 special airlift mission in aid of the state, carrying approximately 96 tons of critical Covid-related equipment since the beginning of pandemic last year.
It may be mentioned that three oxygen generation plants in Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung are being taken up under the PM Cares Fund and officials had said that the one at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima is on the verge of completion while installation work in the other two districts is yet to start.
The state government has also announced that similar facilities would be set up in the remaining eight district hospitals — six to be set up by the United Nations Children’s Fund and two by the United Nations Development Programme.
