Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): In the aftermath of Xavier Rutsa’s demise on June 11 at his residence in Kohima, several organisations and individuals have conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family. Rutsa was a senior journalist who was working as a correspondent in Times of India and was also the president of Kohima Press Club. Individuals and organisations poured in their sorrows from various corners to pay homage to the departed soul.
Governor: Governor, PB Acharya, while mourning the demise of Xavier Rutsa, described him as a fine gentleman, a sensitive journalist, a generous friend, and a thoughtful writer. He lamented that Nagaland has lost a refined journalist today. He however stated that his legacy will continue to inspire the budding journalists as he was a mentor to young journalists and a fountain of wisdom to his colleagues.
Governor has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members, the media fraternity and those closely associated with him and prayed to the Almighty to give strength to his relatives to withstand the sudden demise.
CM: Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, has conveyed sadness on the demise of Xavier Rutsa. In a press release from the chief minister’s office, Rio said Rutsa used to report extensively on local sporting events and also dedicated his free time towards various social activities. He found Rutsa to be sincerely committed towards social causes and always positive in his approach towards public concerns.
Rio lamented that in his demise, the people of Nagaland have lost a towering media personality, a good friend and a simple, humble human being. Rio has conveyed heartfelt condolences to all members of the bereaved family, the media fraternity, and to all those who knew him.
TR Zeliang: Leader of the opposition, TR Zeliang, has described Xavier Rutsa as a reliable and an unbiased man who was guided by journalism ethics.
“I have known him as a gentleman who likes to keep things professional and delved only on pertinent issues during our interactions. He was an epitome of a good journalist and his untimely demise is a great loss to the media fraternity of Nagaland,” Zeliang stated.
Shürhozelie: President of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, while mourning the demise of Rutsa, has described him as an honest and an upright senior Journalist of deep understanding with an incisive edge in his writings who had immensely contributed for the uplift of the society. He lamented that the vacuum created by his demise would be difficult filled and added that his untimely demise was a loss to the media fraternity of Nagaland.
Liezietsu has further conveyed condolences to his family members, the media fraternity of Nagaland, and pray to the Almighty to grant solace and comfort to all his near and dear ones.”
Y Patton: Deputy chief minister, Yanthungo Patton, has lamented that Nagaland has lost a true son of the soil by the passing of Rutsa on June 11. “His contribution to the Naga society as a journalist was immense. He was a man of integrity of the Nagas,” he stated.
Patton has further conveyed condolences to the family members and the media fraternity of Nagaland and also prayed that God grant solace and comfort to his near and dear ones.
Temjen Toy: State chief secretary, Temjen Toy, has mourned the untimely demise of Xavier Rutsa. In Toy’s words, “Xavier was one senior journalist who always had his ears to the ground. His political analysis was phenomenal and earned him respect from colleagues. His quiet demeanor, politeness and unobtrusive nature while displaying his brand of humour made him popular among all those who were privileged to know him.”
NDPP: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has described Rutsa as a journalist who was actively associated with the media.
The NDPP has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and pray that God grant them strength and solace to overcome the loss.
BJP: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has described Rutsa as a dedicated professional and role model for youngsters. It added that his contributions for the society especially to the party men and women would be remembered by all.
BJP prayed to the Almighty God to grant solace to his near and dear ones in their hour of grief.
Nagaland Gorkha Association: Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) has described Rutsa as a gentleman without any inhibitions. “He was a soft-spoken, gentle and kind person who endeared himself to anyone he came into contact with,” NGA stated.
The NGA has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and pray that God give them strength at the tragic moment in their lives.
JDU: JDU party has mourned that the untimely demise of Rutsa was a irreplaceable loss to the families, media fraternity, and the Naga society.
Kripa Foundation: Director and staff of Kripa Foundation have described Rutsa as a remarkable man with passion for journalism, sports, and social and political issues of the state. It mourned that in his demise it has lost a confidante; sincere and hard working journalist.”
The foundation prayed that God may grant strength and much-needed peace to the bereaved family, friends, and the media fraternity at their difficult moment.
NEN: North East Network has described Rutsa as a dear friend and a supporter to them whom they have always counted on. NEN lamented that it has loss of a man of virtue who truly believes in social justice.
NEN stated that it remain in solidarity and extended condolence to the departed soul and the bereaved family.
Nagaland Page: Nagaland Page stated that Xavier has left behind many a valuable contribution, which will ever be remembered by all.” It stated that his demise was not only a loss to his family, but also to the media fraternity and the Nagas as a whole.
