More condemn Aug. 15 killing

Dimapur, Aug. 18 (EMN): Naga Hoho (NH), Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC), and Kulolau Yemishe Ghami Kuqhakulu (KYGK) and Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA) have condemned the killing of Toishe Yeptho on August 16 at his residence in Purana Bazaar ‘B.’

Naga Hoho, while condemning the killing of Toishe Yeptho, stated that all forms of killings in the form of personal rivalry or factional was not expected by the people at this crucial moment when the Nagas are searching for peace and political settlement.

Naga Hoho, in a statement through its communication cell, appealed to all Naga national groups not to allow escalation of another nightmare through such occurrence. As the Naga political scenario becomes fluid where confusion and differences of ideologies are looming in the minds of the people, Naga Hoho appealed every sensible citizens to be vigilant as there could be elements to bring unrest and disunity among the Nagas.

Naga Hoho further conveyed condolence to the bereave family members and prayed that God Almighty would grant solace in their hour of grief and sorrow.

While condemning the incident, Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) stated that taking the law into one’s hand and killing fellow brother without reservation was cowardly act. It stated that As peace seemingly dawned in Naga society, it stated that the ghastly killing has disturbed the peaceful atmosphere and tranquillity.

NTC, in a joint press release issued by its president, Toniho Yepthomi, and the general secretary, Nribemo Ngullie, urged upon the law enforcing agencies to take up the case with all seriousness and bring the culprit to book so that the hard earned peaceful atmosphere of the land is restored.

NTC further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty God to grant them courage to withstand the loss.

In another statement, Kulolau Yemishe Ghami Kuqhakulu (KYGK), Dimapur, has condemned the killing of Toishe Yeptho, a Major in the NSCN (IM), by unidentified gunmen at his residence on August 16.

KYGK president, Vihoshe Awomi, and the general secretary, Ayeho Z Ayemi, stated that killing inside one’s own residence and firing on defenceless woman signalled a new low which the society has plunged in relation to crime. They added that the callous depravity of the incident had not only shocked the entire community but also created a deep sense of despair and fear psychosis.

KYGK has appealed to the investigating agency to spare no effort to bring the perpetrators to justice and to nip the evil from its bud. It further called upon all the right thinking citizens to denounce and condemn such cold blooded murder.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur District GBs’ Association (DDGBA), while condemning the killing of Major Toishe, urged upon the competent authority(s) to book the perpetrator(s) at the earliest and bring them to justice.

Stating that killing does not justify for whatever reason, DDGBA president, Khehovi V Chophi, and the information secretary, R Chankgkum, have termed the act as unbecoming of a civilised world. With the talks going on with the GoI for the final settlement of Indo-Naga political issue, the association stated that such actions do not bode well for the Nagas.

DDGBA has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
