Kohima, Nov. 21 (EMN): Volunteers of the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) caught around 3280 defaulters without facemask in Kohima municipal wards during the second week of crackdown.
On Saturday, November 21, around 380 persons were caught without wearing the protective cloth. It was the highest number of defaulters caught in a single day during the second week.
The association has expressed concern and disappointment that despite the spike in positive cases and casualties of Covid-19 almost every day, citizens are ‘becoming more carefree’ and complacent towards following the preventive guidelines to combat the spread of Covid-19.
Neibulie Kiewhuo, the president of AKMWP, told Eastern Mirror that they would continue to enforce the rule of compulsory mask wearing in the state capital until the number of Covid-19 cases subsides to ‘a considerable level’.
He informed that the state government had also asked them to continue with their initiative of penalising those persons who flout the SOP.
