The Mopungchuket Senso Telongjem Kohima has celebrated its golden jubilee with the theme, ‘Walking towards socio-economic uniformity’ with Parliamentary Secretary, Geology and Mining, Dr Imtiwapang Aier as chief guest and Post Master, General North East Circle, Pangernüngsang IPoS as the guest speaker today at Molu Ki, Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, Dr Imtiwapang Aier said celebrating golden jubilee signifies of the strong foundation laid down in the past by our forefathers, and added that it is also a time for retrospection and introspection of one’s achievements and contributions to the community and society as a whole. He also urged all present to progress in unity with a common vision keeping in mind the welfare and well-being of the future generation. The parliamentary secretary also released the union’s jubilee magazine ‘Mechila’.
Also exhorting the gathering, Pangernüngsang IPoS has noted with the concern that children today faces identity crisis in this fast paced and advanced society, and intrusion of western culture. Therefore he advised the parents to teach their children about our good traditional values, culture and mother tongue. He also urged all to inculcate the good value of honesty and hard work.
Earlier the programme was compered by Purchila Jamir and Akümmeren Jamir while a poem was recited by Aiensen and Jungtiben and vote of thanks proposed by the jubilee convenor, S Sosangmar. The gathering was enthralled with a number presented by the jubilee choir.
