MoonPay secures $87 Million from Justin Bieber, Drake and others

Dimapur, April 13 (EMN): Crypto payments infrastructure firm MoonPay secured an $87 million fundraiser from more than 60 high-profile figures from the worlds of sport, music and entertainment, the company announced on Wednesday.

The American crypto payments startup said that the investments are part of a $555 million Series A financing round, which valued the company at $3.4 billion.

“Today, MoonPay, the leading global crypto payments infrastructure provider, announced that more than 60 influential figures and organizations from the worlds of music, sports, media & entertainment have collectively invested $87 million in the company,” the company wrote in a blog post.

MoonPay has been actively helping celebrities get accustomed to the crypto and non-fungible token (NFT) industry. For instance, last year, the host of “The Tonight Show” Jimmy Fallon and American music artist Post Malone purchased the popular Bored Ape NFT through MoonPay.

Besides helping celebrities get into the NFT industry, the company is also active in the Web3 space including partnerships with layer-2 scaling solution Immutable X and MyEtherWallet.

“Web3 is radically changing how we think about creative value,” said MoonPay’s co-founder and CEO, Ivan Soto-Wright. “We’re on the cusp of a creative crypto renaissance, and our strategic investors are helping to lead that movement. We’re honored to work with them to help onboard the world to Web3.”

Some of the celebrities that invested in MoonPay include Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Maria Sharapova, Bruce Willis, Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Post Malone and The Weeknd among others.
