Monthly DPDB meetings of four districts held

DIMAPUR — The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings of Kohima, Chümoukedima, Mon, and Shamator were held on Tuesday.

Kohima: The Kohima DPDB meeting, held at the DPDB Hall, was chaired by DC Kohima Kumar Ramnikant in the presence of MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, according to a DIPR report.

During the meeting, the Carl Roger’s Institute of Mental Health Research Centre, located in P Khel, Kohima village, gave a PowerPoint presentation on its activities. The board discussed the presentation and decided to seek feedback from the Higher Education and Social Welfare departments before recommending society registration.

For the registration of the Chiechama Students’ Union from Chiechama village, the house recommended changes in the nomenclature before granting approval.

The board also discussed the proposed transfer of Dihoma, Kijümetouma Bawe, and Basa villages from Kezocha Administrative Block to Chiephobozou Administrative Block and agreed to forward the proposal to higher authorities for approval.

A detailed presentation was given by the Urban Development department, Kohima, through Joint Director Kezhochole Rhetso, highlighting various schemes and programmes being implemented in the district.

These included components of DAY-NULM, with 226 self-help groups (SHGs) registered in Kohima, as well as socio-economic profiling under PM SVAN NIDHI for street vendors.

Rhetso also shared progress on initiatives such as PMFME, Swachh Bharat Mission, the Kohima Municipal Council Legacy Waste Quantification Survey, AMRUT Mission, and UIDS. She emphasised the need to conduct social work in Kohima in accordance with the guidelines.

Dr. Rhutso mentioned an increase in the Village Adoption Committee fund, raising it from INR 2 lakh to INR 3 lakh as seed money, and encouraged departments to contribute for more effective implementation.

The meeting concluded with a briefing by SDO Kohima, Abeinuo Jasmine Ashao, who highlighted the SHe-Box initiative, an online system for addressing complaints related to sexual harassment of women in the workplace.

Chümoukedima: The Chümoukedima DPDB meeting, held at the DC conference hall, was chaired by Zhaleo Rio, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and chairman of the DPDB.

During the meeting, the chairman urged the officers to exercise transparency and accountability, acting as agents for the local people and informing them about the implementation and policies of central and state schemes.

He suggested that the house involve the Town Council members in the DPDB meeting so they can share their plans and development initiatives for Chümoukedima district.

The chairman requested that the house provide PowerPoint presentations in a rotational manner by all the departments. He also urged the members to include an agenda item for introducing NST bus service to Medziphema town.

During the review of the minutes from the last meeting, the opening of a new government primary school at Melongmem village was recommended after verification by the administration and the Education department.

The registration of the society for Shiheli Old Age Home in Ganeshnagar village, the Two Wheelers’ Taxi Association Chümoukedima, and the recognition of Lhokheto village under Dhansiripar sub-division, Chümoukedima, were deferred to the next DPDB meeting for further verification and submission of the mandatory documents.

Agenda for the upgrade of Jehoval Jirah School in Videma village, Chümoukedima, to Class VIII and the society registration of Sangtam Atanglah Cultural Society in 7th Mile were approved and forwarded for recommendation.

The board also constituted a committee for the maintenance of the Unity Gate in Chümoukedima, with the DC as chairman and the DCP, EE PWD (NH), EO (CTC), EO (MTC), and DCO (Art and Culture) as members. It was also agreed to add new co-opted members to the committee if needed.

Mon: In the Mon DPDB meeting held at the DC conference hall, under the chairmanship of Ajit Kumar Verma, DC and vice chairman of DPDB, Mon, the application for the registration of Monnu Youth Organisation under society registration was approved and recommended to the concerned department for registration after one of its members presented a brief history and the activities of the society.

The DC stated that society recognition or registration depends on the activities of the society in relation to ground realities.

The board also discussed preparations for the visit of the governor of Nagaland to Mon on October 17. In this regard, the DC urged the members to be adequately prepared.

The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited and the Water Resources department highlighted their departmental activities through PowerPoint presentations.

The district horticulture office and the Rural Development department were entrusted with presenting their departmental activities at the next DPDB meeting.

Shamator: The Shamator DPDB meeting was held at the DBs court, Shamator, under the chairmanship of DC and vice chairman Chubatemjen.

At the meeting, agenda items such as the construction of a sub-centre building at Chassir Village, the upgrade of the Chessore Urban Station Committee to a full-fledged town council (CTPF), the construction of the PHC Chessore building, the acquisition of an ambulance and a medical officer for Chessore PHC, the opening of an SBI ATM in Shamator town, and the registration of the Kiuti City Boys Society were discussed.
