The vice chairman of the District Planning and Development Board of Mon, W Honje Konyak, presided over the monthly meeting. The meeting was conducted in the conference hall of the board in Mon town on Monday, August 17.
During the meeting, the members of the board discussed a number of agendas which included opening a school, Loung Beginner’s School in Leangha, registration for approval of a nongovernmental organization Hope Global Ministry, a community project for Mon called ‘I Love Mon Town’, and issues related to encroachment into government-owned lands.Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mon district, MA Shihab, who is the convenor of ‘I Love Mon Town,’ told the board that the speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly had encouraged the officers posted in Mon that they were ‘privileged’ and to leave a good legacy of their work and stay.
In his PowerPoint presentation about I Love Mon Town, he said that justice cannot be delivered ‘according to people’s expectation due to limitation of resources’. I Love Mon Town aims to launch by October 2 coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and the launch of the Swacch Bharat Mission for the district on the same day. The first phase of the mission will culminate on January 26 in 2017.
In other matters, the board held discussions to spread information about maintaining public property and caution against encroachment into government-owned land. The deputy commissioner informed that the stated matter would be taken with the competent authority ‘for necessary action’.
During the meeting, officials of the State Bank of India in Mon gave a PowerPoint presentation about the various government schemes launched by the government of India. The house recommended the Project Director of District Rural Development Agency of Mon to take up initiatives toward creating seminars in the various sub-divisions and circles of the district.
The deputy commissioner also reminded the board’s members about the government’s directive to the board to adhere strictly to the notice to not pay any extortion demanded from the offices.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner for Planning, Zhothose, gave his last address in the DPDB meeting before his new assignment elsewhere. He said to be posted to Mon district in December 1999 and has served 15 years and 8 months. He expressed pleasure to have stayed in the district and for being associated with W Honje Konyak ever since he was an extra assistant commissioner till the capacity of being the present deputy commissioner. Zhothose added that he would be missing the I Love Mon Town mission which would be implemented soon.
On his part, deputy Commissioner W Honje Konyak said Zhothose has contributed to the society and government during his service and will be retiring happily.
