Mon’s board laments pathetic Mon-Namtola road

Dimapur, July 16 (EMN): The chairman of Mon District Development Board, Pohwang Konyak has lamented the pathetic road condition between Mon-Namtola. Therefore, he asked the department concerned to ‘give completion certificates to the contractors only after completion of works is verified properly.

Konyak who is also the advisor to Fire & Emergency Services addressing the monthly Mon District Planning and Development Board meeting on July 16 in the deputy commissioner’s conference hall, referred to the Mon-Namtola road, and said that the ‘the government is spending lots of money on roads but the road in the district is not satisfactory,’ informed a DIPR report.

He asserted that the quality of road construction should not be compromised on shortage of money or any other excuse, and said that the ‘government is ready to allot more sanction if it is genuine’.

In this regard, Konyak reminded the department concerned “to checked and present the progression of work and give completion certificates to the contractors only after completion and verified properly.”

Chief Medical Officer Mon, Dr. Kechongol Sophie, informed the house on the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign which is going to start from Oct. 3. He informed that Mon district is targeting around 80-90 thousand children ranging from 9 months to 15 years during the vaccination campaign.

Farm Manager PBC – Tizit, Dr. Manjan Konyak, gave a powerpoint presentation on the activities carried out by the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry department in Mon district during this year.

The DIPR report also stated that the agendas discussed during the meeting were: Up-gradation of Phomching Police Station to full-fledged Police Station; establishment of Soil & Water Conservation Office and establishment of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Sub-Centre at Phomching. Other agendas included construction of culvert & drainage to A/road of Mon town to water source at S/Wamsa village, Mon Judicial Court building, recognition of Yingangh School, Aboi and Mon–Namtola road.

Earlier, the board welcomed the new board members Imnalensa, SP Mon; Kumar Ramnikant, ADC Mon; Nikuto, EE PWD (R&B); and Hukato Sumi, vice principal of Wangkhao College.
