Monkeys attack lab worker, runs off with Covid-19 test samples

A troop of monkeys reportedly attacked a laboratory technician who was reported to have been carrying Covid-19 test samples of suspected patients in the Meerut Medical College premises.

According to a Times of India report on May 29, the primates snatched the test samples, said to belong to three patients.

“Later one of the monkeys was found atop a tree chewing the sample collection kits. Samples from the patient’s had to be taken again,” the TOI stated.

The locals now fear further spread of infection with these collection kits being carried away to nearby residential areas by the monkeys, the TOI report stated.
