Mongsenyimti Senso of Kohima celebrates golden jubilee

Kohima, May 2 (EMN): The Mongsenyimti Senso Kohima Union (MSKU) celebrated their golden jubilee with the theme “Towarutem” at Molu Ki, Merhulietsa colony on Tuesday.
I. Meyionen Jamir, director of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption of Nagaland, spoke during the occasion. He said that the number 50 represented ‘maturity, strength, and completeness’ in their lives. It is time for introspection, evaluation and to make a commitment to broaden the horizons and to set a new vision to work for the betterment of the society, he said.
‘With the completion of 50 years, we should not be a people who just wait and watch the things happening around us but must assume the responsibilities to be action oriented people who work for change and a better future for our present and future generations,’ he said.
P Lanu Aier, chief engineer of the Police Engineering Project, also addressed the event. He said unions are formed with ‘good intentions’ and for a good cause. The MSKU has contributed to the health sector, education sector and in mission works for the society, he said.
Referring to the problem of unemployment in Nagaland, Aier suggested the need for skill development in the state. He said that to solve the problem of employment, there is a need for infrastructure ‘which is possible only through peace in our land.’ Both the employed and the unemployed youths need infrastructure skill development, he said.
Further, he said that the private sectors are overtaking the government sectors. He urged the gathering to organize programs related to skill development in the coming days ‘in order to sensitize the people which will in turn benefit the younger generation.’
Representatives from Langpangkong Senso Telongjem Kohima, Village Council Mongsenyimti and Mongsenyimti Senso Bendang Union also exhorted during the program.
Chief Engineer P Lanu Aier released a souvenir, a book titled ‘Towarutem’ during the program.
