Mon to observe World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

To commemorate World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2020, a mono act video contest against human trafficking has been organised in Mon district on the theme ‘no one can own anyone’.

The contest is being organised by the Mon district administration in collaboration with the district-level centre for women (DLCW) and Sakhi- one stop centre. The news about the contest was informed through the Nagaland government’s official Twitter account on Monday.

The contest is open to all residents of Mon district. According to the update, the video should not exceed five minutes while the participants can use English, Nagamese and Konyak language.

The update stated that the participants should act out more than one character and that all the characters should be portrayed in a single video. Participants can send the video via WhatsApp (7628845618/ 9612391622). It also informed that the last date for submission is July 29.

It also informed that a cash prize of INR 5000, INR 3000 and INR 2000 would be awarded for first, second and third places respectively. Five consolation prizes of INR 500 would also be awarded.

Similarly, an online poetry writing competition has also been organised on the theme ‘a tribute to frontline workers’ by the district administration.

However, the poetry competition is open only for girl students of Mon district studying in classes 10, 11 and 12, and that the winner would be chosen based on the originality of the content.

According to the rules, the poems must be hand-written and in English language. The length of the poem should be between eight to 16 lines.

It added that the participants have to mention their name, class and school while enlisting for entries via the aforementioned WhatsApp number. The last date for entry is July 28.

It informed that a total of INR 5000 would be given for the first prize; INR 3000 for the second prize; INR 2000 for the third prize and INR 500 each to  five consolation prize winners.
