Dimapur, Aug. 14 (EMN): While lauding the commendable performance of health department that were taken up on campaign mode in the district, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Mon, Dr. Kechongol Sophie, said there was a lot that need to be improved in the delivery of routine health services.
Speaking to the health workers of Mon during the quarterly meeting at DRDA Hall, Mon, on August 13, the CMO cited examples of the Measles Rubella (MR) campaign where the district attained 100% vaccination and the recently concluded population stabilisation programme where the district exceeded the GOI set targets for the district (99 sterilisations against target of 85; and 380 IUCD insertions against target of 203).
In this connection, cash prizes of INR 2000 and INR 1500 were presented to the ASHA coordinators of Wakching and Phomching blocks respectively, stated Moie Bonnie Konyak, District Programme Manager, NHM, Mon.
The CMO also encouraged the health workers to put their best efforts into the acceptance of the recently launched Rota Virus Vaccination which would decrease diarrhoea cases in infants and improve the overall health of children in the district.
District TB Officer, Dr. Tinenlo James, spoke on the high prevalence of TB in the Mon which is highest in the State after Dimapur and Kohima. He informed that from January 2019 till date there were 342 TB notified cases in the district where 307 were put on treatment, while 17 MDR TB cases were identified and treatment had started since July 2019.
He also informed that one case of paragonimiasis, which was mistaken for TB had been detected. He encouraged the medical officers to refer cases to the DTC for further investigation and also highlighted all the incentives under RNTCP.
Meanwhile, District Vector Borne Officer (DVBO) Mon, Dr. Limatula Aier, also spoke on the importance of testing every fever case since sufficient test kits are available. She requested all the health workers to be alert under the present circumstances with JE cases in neighbouring states and districts and requested to send blood slides of suspected cases.
The District Programme Officer of RCH and UIP, Dr. Shashinle Tep also reminded all the medical staff to work sincerely on the microplan for immunisation which would help in improving the over-all immunisation status of the district.
District Programme Manager of NHM, Bonnie Konyak, reviewed the block-wise performance of the district and spoke on the ‘Roles and responsibilities’ of the health workers while the BPMs gave a refresher training on the various reporting formats.
