Mon marks Population Stabilisation Week with advocacy

Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): The district health society of Mon district observed World Population Stabilisation Fortnight campaign with the slogan “Take responsibility towards family planning; prepare for the wellbeing of mother and child.”
A press release from the organisers on Wednesday stated that the event was divided into two segments namely the mobilisation week and the family planning services week.

The district also organized a state-level observance of World Population Day 2019 on July 11 n collaboration with the Nagaland unit of the Family Planning Association of India.

According to the organisers the fortnight covered 394 IUCD insertions, and 99 permanent sterilisations. Further, they distributed “numerous numbers of temporary contraceptive methods” to all the blocks, the updates explained.

The district health society of Mon has expressed gratitude to its staff and workers for the successful conduct of the programme.

The press release stated: “The overall week analyses that the fertility control and the birth-spacing measures is somewhat acceptable in the district except for some minute misconceptions.”

“The IEC (information, education and communication) team which consisted of DPMU (district programme management unit) staffs played its role by setting up effective sessions of inter personal communication and focus group discussions in order to give the women, men and couples comprehensive information about all contraceptive options and that there is support for personal decision making regarding family planning.”
