DIPR Dimapur, December 14 The district planning boards of Mon and Longleng district have approved a number of developmental works that comprise connectivity and public infrastructure. The District Planning & Development Boards of Mon, Longleng and Tobu held a meeting combined, on December 13 in Shingphang Bridge along the Longleng-Aboi road. The board members have given their approval to the construction of rest house at Shingphang Bridge, construction of a road from Sowa Changle to Yeangching (Ukha bridge), construction of a two-kilometers link road from Shingphang Bridge to Waha Rubber Project at Sowa. Likewise, the boards have given approval to the opening of new State Bank of India branch and establishment of a Horticulture office in Tobu. For Longleng, the board approved creation of establishment of divisional forest Officer for Longleng. Besides these the board also discussed shifting the Forest Ranger Office at Shetap to Tamlu. Another matter the board members discussed was the poor BSNL connection in the region. Member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Eshak, who represents Aboi assembly constituency, said the combined meeting of Mon and Longleng’s development boards is the beginning of a new bond between the two districts. In order to connect the two districts, Eshak proposed construction of new road between Sowachangle village and Yeangching village junction which he said would be the shortest route to Tobu and Longleng from Mon town headquarter. Deputy Commissioner of Mon Angau I Thou also addressed the gathering of board members. Speaking on behalf of the Development and Planning Board of Mon, Thou appealed to the members to strive for peace within their selves, within the families and society as well as with the other communities. Referring to a Bible passage in Isaiah, she said there can be no love, unity and progress in the society if there is no peace. Exhorting the officials she said ‘every one of us has a mission gifted by God.” Referring to the MLA’s suggestion, Thou said Shingphang Bridge should be a ‘bridge of friendship’ for the people of Mon and Longleng district. Also, the Deputy Commissioner of Longleng Libanthung Lotha thanked the people of both the districts for extending their cooperation and support to the administration in maintaining law and order. The event was also a pre-Christmas celebration for the development board members. Executive Secretary of Phom Baptist Christian Association Y Nuklu was the speaker. In his message the preacher spoke about the significance of Christmas and contrasted it with the attitudes of mankind toward Jesus Christ during Christmas. “We celebrate Christmas without the true concept of the Holy Bible,” he said. Stating that Christ was a giver of love, peace and joy, Nuklu appealed to the gathering to ‘give a chance to Jesus to come into our hearts’ during this Christmas season and make this season ‘a different Christmas’.
