Dimapur, May 4 (EMN): With the surge of Covid-19 cases in the district, Mon administration has decided to intensify implementing Covid-19 protocols and also reinforce the ward and village task forces to contain the spread of the virus as were found to be effective in managing the pandemic as witnessed last year.
The decision to this effect was taken during a combined meeting of the district task force for Covid-19 and the district task force for Covid-19 vaccination held on May 3 in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office, Mon, a DIPR report stated.
It stated that the meeting began with a brief summary on the on-going vaccination process in the district by Dr. Shasinle Tep, DIO (UIP&RCH), wherein she informed that vaccination for persons from 18 years and above would soon begin as and when the vaccine reaches the district.
The members also discussed the execution of the vaccination plan and the challenges faced by each block under the district in minute detail.
Highlighting the current Covid-19 situation, Dr. Limatula Aier, DSO, disclosed that there are 23 active cases and three deaths till date in the district.
Following the feedback, the district task force has decided to strengthen the Covid-19 protocols and also discussed the preparation, enforcement and monitoring. It also decided to reinforce the ward and the village task force as they were found to be effective in managing the pandemic as witnessed last year.
The house also decided that all concerned should obtain prior permission from the district task force for holding any kind of gatherings within the district.
Further, the house discussed the preparedness of Covid Hospital, Covid Care Centre, manpower issues, drugs, equipment and dead body protocols.
The meeting was chaired by the deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K which was also attended by the chief medical officer (CMO), Mon, Dr Kechongol Sophie. Other members who were present included superintendent of police, medical superintendent of District Hospital, deputy CMO, ADC, SDO (C), district surveillance officer (IDSP), district immunisation officer, WHO, and other administrative officers.
