Mon DPDB backs new Government Primary School at New Tobu village and reviews key proposals. Photography exhibition held at Patkai Christian College

DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held on Thursday at the DC’s conference hall, Mon, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman of DPDB Mon, Wennyei Konyak.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the deputy commissioner introduced the proposed agenda, including the creation of a Government Primary School (GPS) at New Tobu village, which had been discussed during the November 2025 DPDB meeting.
District Education Officer (DEO) Mon, Thinoneisie Lhousa, presented a brief report on the status of the proposed school. Based on the department’s report, the board recommended the proposal for the establishment of a GPS at New Tobu village.

The board also discussed a proposal for the creation of an Anganwadi centre at Mohung Changai under CDPO Aboi and forwarded it to the concerned department for approval.
Other matters deliberated during the meeting included the registration of Lohlong Football Club of Zangkham village under Tizit, the shifting of Oting village administrative block from Mon Sadar to Tizit sub-division, and the change of nomenclature of Yannyu village to Yannu village under Tizit sub-division. These proposals were forwarded to the respective higher authorities for necessary approval.
During the meeting, SDO (Electrical) Thanyalo Kath delivered a PowerPoint presentation on smart electricity metering and elaborated on its advantages.
Encouraging the Agriculture and Allied Departments to actively participate in the Aspirational Agriculture District initiative, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of focusing on grassroots-level activities.
He informed that the Ministry is keen to monitor activities at the grassroots and urged departments to ensure timely online reporting of their works.
The DC further called upon members to focus on the overall development of the district and discharge their duties with dedication and efficiency. He also informed that an inter-departmental tournament will be held from March 12 to 14.
