DIMAPUR — The National Centre for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), Mon, observed ‘Anti-malaria month’ from June 1 to the 30th on the theme “Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world.” The goal of the campaign was to raise community awareness and encourage participation to prevent malaria.
According to an update from CMO office, cleanliness drive, awareness workshops on reducing the risk of source and transmission, regular use of long-lasting insecticide nets (LLIN), preventive strategies, treatment, diagnosis and service availability were among the activities conducted in every block of the district during the campaign. Additionally, health camps were organised in 15 selected villages to screen for malaria.
Other activities included awareness through mikings, focus group discussions (FGD) and inter-personal communication (IPC) were conducted.
During the anti-malaria month, village authorities, faith-based organisations and youth were involved.
Malaria inspectors, surveillance inspectors, surveillance workers, malaria technical supervisors and Ashas carried out the activities during the campaign led the district vector borne officer, Dr. Abenthung Murry.
